The state oil company of Angola, Sonangol, has confirmed that it is developing a new training centre to improve skills levels within the country.
Subsidiary of the firm Sonangol Shipping is to create the new training centre as part of a bid to support the ongoing development of the country's industry, the Angola Press news agency said.
Citing mechanical engineer for the project Pele Cardoso, the news provider said the facility will provide training for technicians at companies related to the industry.
Research rooms, a workshop, a library, classrooms and laboratories will all be included in the centre, which is expected to train some 48 students within its first year of operation, the news provider said.
Sonangol undertakes activities in a number of different areas, including upstream exploration and production, and the relevant leasing of different blocks in the country. Sonangol's subsidiary Pesquisa & Producao was established in 1992 to undertake production projects.
