A delegation of Swedish diplomats headed by the country's ambassador to Iraq has expressed its interest in working together to build commercial ties and promote infrastructural development in the Middle Eastern country.
The director of the national investment authority Hanan al-Saeedi told Aswat al-Iraq said that the delegation was received in Iraq yesterday (June 1st) by the authority's deputy president Salar Ameen.
Mr al-Saeedi commented: "The Swedish side conveyed its companies' desire to open offices in Iraq to start a new stage of joint cooperation and to contribute in reconstructing Iraq."
Such work could include investment in infrastructure, education and health facilities in the country.
Mr Ameen said that the national investment authority would work to promote cooperation between the two countries and remove any obstacles that would hinder a strengthened relationship.
Sweden's neighbour Norway already enjoys strong commercial relations with Iraq, with the oil and gas distributor DNO commencing with oil exports from the Tawke field in the northern region of Kurdistan yesterday.
