Training programmes run by TTE Technical Training Group are attracting a growing number of international workers to the company's Teesside base.
According to the Northern Echo, more than 100 foreign workers have enrolled on oil and gas courses run by TTE from its base in Middlesbrough, contributing an estimated £500,000 to the local economy in the process.
Students have come from a multitude of oil producing nations such as Oman, Ghana and Libya and often live in rented accommodation provided by TTE.
"While there is a broad understanding of the role TTE plays in terms of training technicians from around the globe, the contribution in terms of helping sustaining the local economy is not so well known," said Keith Hunter, the company's managing director.
Earlier this month, TTE also hosted a recruitment drive as it expanded its course offering further with the introduction of the Performing Engineering Operations level one programme, which is designed to help young people enter the oil and gas industry.
