Embarking on an apprenticeship linked with the oil and gas industry provides workers with practical qualifications and experience which can be used to enhance career prospects, TTE Training has advised.
An announcement from the company comes as it launches a number of training workshops throughout the UK focusing on enabling young people to get ahead in the oil and gas industry.
Keith Leslie, TTE Apprenticeship business director, commented: "We are aiming to get the message across to people that apprenticeships are a worthwhile alternative to college or university."
He added that one of the distinct advantages is that an apprenticeship allows students to develop close links with the local business community.
Many placements also offer the opportunity to go on to study a degree as well, further expanding skill sets which are invaluable to the energy sector.
TTE is the UK's largest technical training provider serving the oil and gas industry and also provides courses for a number of blue chips such as Shell, BP and Corus.
