Middlesbrough-based charity TTE Technical Training Group has completed apprenticeships for young engineers entering the healthcare industry.
Speaking to the Northern Echo, Keith Hunter, group managing director, commented: "TTE is well known for training the workers of tomorrow for the oil and gas, process, manufacturing and engineering sectors. However, the skills learnt on our apprenticeship programmes are transferrable."
The two apprentices, Joshua Thompson, 18, and Martin Tate, 20, have both recently joined the University Hospital of North Tees' Northern and Yorkshire NHS Assessment Centre, working as a medical engineer and a mechanical fitter respectively.
In other company developments, TTE has also recently passed a major safety milestone, racking up more than two million accident-free working hours at the Wilton International training and development site.
Hundreds of trainees and technicians pass through the centre every year, with every worker and visiting contractor given a thorough briefing on health and safety procedures at the site.
