Terasen has announced a new gas training boot camp which will provide young tribe members in British Columbia with the necessary skills to pursue a lucrative career in the utilities sector.
Jan Marston, Terasen Gas vice-president for human resources and operations governance, explained that the skills learned on the gas education courses will make students an attractive prospect to employers and set them on a path towards further skills development in the oil and gas industry.
"Participants will learn from hands-on experience alongside long-time Terasen Gas employees and other industry experts," he explained.
The new gas training course follows up on a pilot programme which was undertaken in June.
All participants went on to complete a provincially-recognised construction exam.
In other recent developments, Terasen also announced that it is to develop British Columbia's first biogas alternative energy project, which will include the production and delivery of biomethane via its downstream distribution network.
