Tethys Petroleum has issued an update on its exploration and production in Tajikistan, where it also provides oil industry training to local residents.
Oil industry training in the region is part of the company's moves towards establishing specialist services provider Tethys Services Tajikistan.
However, it also explores Tajikistan fields for upside potential.
The East Komsomolsk well KOM200 is among its most recent areas of exploration and production.
Preparations are currently underway for drilling, after an encountered gas influx halted progress.
Tethys explains that the gas influx is believed to derive from the main reservoir that it is targeting during the drilling.
It has required "extensive work" to kill the well, with casing now run and cementing in place to allow drilling to continue.
Tethys is also currently exploring East Olimtoi exploration well EOL09, where it has drilled to 2,782 m at present.
Drilling is taking place just north of the Panj river, in the south-east of the Bokhtar PSC area, Tethys adds.
