Total will provide training and development opportunities for 80 Yemeni workers, the company's general director of Yemeni operations Martin Defunten has confirmed.
According to the Yemen News Agency, the director announced that the French oil major will be running 18-month training programmes for Yemeni engineers in a move that will create opportunities to join the company and service rigs in the Block 10 area in Angola.
The company holds operatorship of Block 10, which is located east of the Shabwa province, and also has an interest in numerous other fields.
Total also leads the Yemen Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project with a share of 39.6 per cent. This is one of the biggest projects of its kind in Yemen and is located in Block 18.
In December last year, Yemen LNG launched a training programme to engage local communities with the gas project as part of the group's commitment to involving key stakeholders.
