Canadian companies working in the oil and gas industry, as well as other key sectors such as aeronautics, technology and finance, are waking up to the growth potential evident in Brunei.
Such is the claim of Stockwell Day, Canada's trade minister and foreign minister for the Asia-Pacific region, who last week concluded a five-day tour of the region during which he met with the Sultan of Brunei.
Bru Direct reports that during talks at Istana Nurul Iman, Mr Day said that cooperation between the two countries was already helping to fuel jobs and revenue growth, with the potential to further strengthen this with expanded training and development frameworks.
"From oil and gas, to renewable energy, to high technology, to agriculture, aerospace, education and defence, more and more Canadian companies are waking up to business opportunities in Brunei," Mr Day commented.
Among the companies enjoying growth in Brunei were the Royal Bank of Canada, Bombardier Aerospace and Nations Petroleum, he said.
