A focus on continual training and development has helped to push Nexen into the the Times top 100 companies to work for.
With its focus on both training and the opportunity to work overseas, Nexen achieved a high score in professional development categories, with 78 per cent of workers stating that they had learned skills and expertise that would be valuable in their future careers.
Employees also commended Nexen's environmental record and its support of charitable causes. The organisation will match any fundraising efforts achieved by their workers.
"As well as supporting staff's commitment to the community and the environment, the company ensures they get a fair deal in terms of pay and perks," the Times also found.
The company has also received a Healthy Living Award for its commitment to good dietary standards on its Scott platform in the North Sea.
Phil Craigen, an offshore installation manager at the platform, said that the workers have responded very positively to the switch to healthier ingredients.
