US-based oil and gas training specialist GSE has acquired TAS Engineering Consultants in a move that is intended to deliver strong returns for shareholders of both companies.

TAS is based in Stockton on Tees and is an engineering consulting company specialising in electrical system design, instrumentation and controls engineering, automation engineering and safety consultancy.

The majority of its clients are based in the oil and gas industry, as well as chemical, petrochemical and power sectors.

GSE's chief executive John Moran commented on the strategic importance of the acquisition: "TAS routinely encounters training opportunities that coincide with their engineering and consulting projects thereby creating cross selling opportunities for GSE's growing training organisation."

Although based in the US, GSE has also made strategic investments in oil and gas training operations across the globe. It is a ten per cent owner of the Emirates Simulation Academy in the United Arab Emirates.
