The introduction of new training programmes in Ghana could help to overcome disputes in the oil industry, the country's vice-president has reportedly argued.
According to Modern Ghana, John Dramani Mahama said the government is keen to boost training to create a strong national security and efficient judicial system.
Such a system would be able to meet the demands of the population in terms of dealing with oil and gas production on a commercial scale, he suggested.
A statement reportedly read on his behalf at the recent opening of the 10th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana stated that the government is committed to ensuring the successful management of the oil and gas industry.
The country is currently preparing to achieve first oil, helping to achieve a presence in the upstream sector and unlock wealth. Earlier this month, the World Bank confirmed $30 million of funding for training programmes to help manage this burgeoning sector.
