A specialist oil and gas team will be moving to Clearfield County, Pennsylvania in order to help local officials to deal with potential drilling site problems.
Commissioners for the region said a three-man operation from Wild Well Control will be working out of the Clearfield-Lawrence Airport on a year-long contract.
The experts' duties will include training emergency response units to deal with gas well incidents, as well as being on call for related one-off problems.
According to reports, the decision was made following the recent blowout of a well off Four Mile Road in Lawrence Township, which was dealt with by Wild Well Control.
At the time, Department of Environmental Protection secretary John Hanger claimed an independent investigation had revealed improper control procedures were in place.
"This partnership ... will make the entire region better prepared to deal with any emergency situations that may arise at a gas drilling site," the commissioners were quoted by gantdaily.com as saying.
