Tullow continued its impressive operational campaigns in Ghana and Uganda during the first six months of the year, raising further prospects for expansion.
In its interim financial statement released this morning (August 25th), the Irish oil and gas major announced that in the year to date, it has continued to maintain its drilling success rate, with 14 wells out of 17 drilled yielding positive results.
After the Mpyo-1's recent Ugandan discovery, the group announced that total discovered resources in the country are now in excess of one billion barrels.
"Our exploration and development programmes are delivering excellent results with significant new oil discoveries being made in both Ghana and Uganda and first oil from Jubilee expected before year-end," commented Aidan Heavey, chief executive of Tullow.
Ahead of achieving first oil in Ghana later this year, the company is investing extensively in oil and gas training programmes to ensure local workers find a place in the burgeoning industry.
