Irish oil and gas major Tullow has announced another significant find in Uganda's block 2, located in the Lake Albert basin.
The company is conducting a multi-well appraisal programme to assess oil potential in the greater Nsoga area, and it has suspended the Nsoga-5 well for future re-entry after encountering ten metres of net oil pay.
Continuing the campaign, the OGEC IRI-750 drilling rig will now move south to the Kigogole field to conduct further appraisals.
As Uganda prepares to achieve first oil, Tullow has invested in infrastructural development and local training programmes to ensure Ugandans can find work in the country's nascent oil and gas industry.
It has also invested in training and development programmes in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which shares a water border with Uganda which runs through Lake Albert.
The company announced a $7 million training programme to rebalance opportunities for employment in the countries earlier this year.
