Dai Jones, president and general manager of Tullow Oil Ghana, has pledged a firm commitment to ensuring that all Ghanaians benefit from the discovery of oil off the country's coast in the Jubilee field.
The Ghanaian Chronicle reports that Mr Jones made his comments during an address to trainees and cadets at the Ghana Maritime University, who are currently undertaking an offshore maritime safety training course.
"Our focus is on results, our commitment to our stakeholders, integrity and respect for our communities we touch, and entrepreneurial spirit and initiative," he explained.
The company is also developing a training and development programme that will allow Ghanaians to enter the emergent oil and gas industry at all levels, Mr Jones added.
Tullow has been one of the rare success stories of the downturn, with consecutive finds in Ghana, Uganda and other African countries helping to boost its asset portfolio exponentially.
In September, the company announced potentially commercial finds in both Uganda and Sierra Leone.
