Specialists from Turkmenistan's oil and gas industry have returned to the country after a one-month training and development programme at the head offices and divisions of Germany's RWE.
Turkmenistan.ru reports that in addition to carrying out training exercises on numerous offshore oil and gas platforms, the cohort of Turkmen workers also visited core enterprises, nuclear plants, a hydroelectric complex, a pumping station and a refinery.
As well as imparting training specific to the oil and gas industry, RWE provided briefings on how to harvest renewable energy and convert waste from agricultural production into clean-burning fuels.
In April, RWE signed an agreement to begin exploration and production operations off the coast of Turkmenistan in order to diversify European gas supply.
Speaking to Bloomberg in July, Georg Schoening, the head of oil and gas at RWE, said that cooperation may extend beyond the development of the single field.
"We're interested in more options than just one block. If the Turkmen want to open themselves for onshore production, we'll be happy to make ourselves available," he explained.
