The UAE's foreign minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed has concluded his tour of Asia and has made agreements to extend cooperation in the fields of training, technology transfer, energy and communications.
During top-level talks with officials from South Korea, Brunei, Bangladesh, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Sheikh Abdullah focused primarily on launching new joint ventures and partnerships within the private sector.
Strategic cooperation frameworks were also set out to increase cooperation in training and education and technology transfer to support the UAE's oil and gas industry and other key sectors.
"We are partners in cooperation and are bound by excellent friendship and mutual interests," he commented.
Cooperation in the energy and environmental sectors was a particularly strong focus of the talks held with the prime minister of Bangladesh.
Earlier this month, Italy's ambassador to the UAE told Gulf News that both Italy and the Dominican Republic would be backing the UAE's bid to become the home of the International Renewable Energy Agency's new headquarters, recognising its commitment to innovation in the energy sector.
