Malaysia LNG (MLNG) Tiga, an upstream gas developer working in Bintulu, Sarawak, Malaysia, has adopted an operator training system as part of a five-year scheme valued at millions of dollars.
The contract is for the delivery of a virtual environment by software developer Invensys to be used in operator training.
Invensys explains that the upstream gas developer has already seen productivity and efficiency raised through its use of the simulator.
Safety awareness has also increased on a plant-wide basis, the company claims.
The liquefied natural gas producer operates eight production trains at its Petronas LNG complex in Bintulu.
Each year, the complex is capable of producing in the region of 23 million tonnes of LNG.
Site operator Petronas announced earlier this year its intention to take part in Earth Hour, which was held on March 28th.
On that date, the Petronas Twin Towers stood in darkness, with the exception of internal lights that were essential to continued operation.
