The Vietnamese prime minister Nguyen Tan Dung has pledged his commitment to a broad agreement that will increase the flow of oil to the south-east Asian country from the Middle East and will also encourage greater training cooperation.
During a visit to the emirates, he met with top business representatives of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and welcomed investment in business opportunities spanning construction, education, agriculture and the oil and gas industry.
According to Emirates Business, he told attendees at a red carpet chamber meeting: "Language is not a barrier in doing business as young Vietnamese speak fluent English and the government plans to give training to labourers before they are sent to work in the UAE."
He added that new developments will build on a long tradition of trade and cooperation which has seen import volumes increase at a fast pace in recent decades.
In 2008, the UAE's exports totalled $207.7 billion (£146.6 billion), 45 per cent of which came from oil trading.
