Vopak Horizon Fujairah has teamed up with the Higher Colleges of Technology of Fujairah and Tanmia to bring a focused oil training programme for UAE nationals to the emirate for the first time.
Due to start next month, the two-year petroleum operator training programme will prepare 20 young gifted nationals for a potential career with Vopak Horizon, Enoc or other players in the UAE's oil and gas industry.
"The training programme is a direct response to the demand from young UAE nationals and their keenness to pursue careers in the petroleum sector," said Walter Moone, general manager of Vopak Horizon.
He added that such training and development programmes are vital given the continued rapid growth in the Middle Eastern oil and gas industry, despite difficulties in macroeconomic conditions.
Vopak was established in 1996 as a joint venture project between Enoc, Holland-based Royal Vopak, Kuwait's Independent Petroleum Group and the government of Fujairah.
