Yemeni workers may soon have access to training and development programmes at Polish universities that will enable them to pursue a career in the oil and gas industry.
The Yemen News Agency reports that the country's ambassador to Poland Ali Aqlan met with the head of the oil and gas department at the Polish economics ministry Maji Kaliski earlier today (March 18th) to discuss the possibility of training Yemeni cadres.
In addition to learning the skills necessary to enter the oil and gas industry, Yemeni students were also offered mining courses that would allow them to develop the country's natural resources.
The two officials also discussed bilateral trade and investment opportunities between Poland and Yemen.
The Yemen Times reports that the country has been looking to increase the proportion of domestic workers that support its oil and gas industry with a 'Yemenisation' programme which was launched in 2006.
In addition to reducing unemployment, the training initiative also looked to redress the balance between domestic and foreign wages in the sector.
