Amir al-Aidaros, Yemen's minister for oil and gas, has declared that the country will soon reveal details of promising gas prospects in the Red Sea, as well as making a commitment to improved oil and gas training facilities.
According to state news agency SABA, Mr al-Aidaros revealed that the country has seen strong interest from a number of international oil and gas majors looking to stake a claim to blocks 22 and 25 in the Red Sea.
To facilitate growth in the country's oil and gas industry, al-Aidaros and fellow policymakers will soon draft a law to license the prospects.
Local employment will be boosted by the development of a new oil and gas training centre in Marib province, he added.
According to the Energy Information Administration, Yemen boasts proved gas reserves equal to 16.9 billion cubic feet, making it the 33rd largest holder of gas reserves in the world, although no production has yet occurred.
