Yokogawa has secured a new contract with BP Angola to supply an integrated control and safety system (ICSS) for new floating production, storage and offloading vessels (FPSO).
South African industry journal Instrumentation Control reports that the new contract comes as the country's FPSO industry is burgeoning, with the vessels becoming increasingly common at small and geographically remote fields where pipeline shore links are impractical.
Products to be provided as part of the new frame agreement include the CENTUMVP integrated production control system, Exaquantum integrated information systems and the OmegaLand operator training system.
OmegaLand consists of an array of simulation modules that provide training for both the upstream and downstream operations of the oil and gas industry, in addition to other key sectors.
Teruyoshi Minaki, director and executive vice-president of the international business headquarters, said the company is honoured to have won the main contract.
"We are looking to develop and strengthen our long-term performance-based relationship with BP," he added.
