Programme

All participants will be engaged in practical workshops on three major objectives that will form part of the Ministry’s strategy, the results of which will then be presented to all participants. The aim is collaboratively to address the following:

GROUP 1.Enhance existing resources and capabilities of the MoO Oil Training Institutes, with an aim to:

- Reach international teaching and learning standards and accreditation
- Meet short-term infrastructure requirements
- Review potential for international partnerships

GROUP 2. Latest update on the development of Basra Petroleum College. The group will:

- Discuss the range of disciplines to be taught in line with MoO vision
- Identify selection process and training of teaching staff
- Develop a mechanism for industry input to curriculum
- Explore links to Iraqi colleges, institutes and universities and to Ministry of Higher Education

GROUP 3. Building and equipping of an Iraqi oil drilling school

- Plan for teaching to international standards
- Sharing international experience of drilling training
- Curriculum and assessment of students
