Oil and Gas exploration and production activity in Ghana and West Africa have been steadily increasing in the past few years. With that increase in production has come an increased focus on extracting national value from the resources, managing the aspirations of some of the most dynamic and enterprise people in the world and preventing international companies from contributing to environmental, social and political disruption in the course of their operations.
West Africa is generally an excellent example of the potential of using exploration of natural resources to create investment in local universities, colleges and training provision for national staff. Indeed there is a strong argument that such activity helps to address political unrest and dissatisfaction with international company involvement which has been a feature of oil/gas exploration and production in the region.
So it is in this positive frame of mind that we bring Getenergy to Ghana and West Africa, from 16th - 17th September 2010. Our intention is to address issues of skills and capability which include:
• HSE practice and training
• English language
• Project management
• Training technology transfer
• Investment in University faculty, facilities and curricula
• The growth of new institutes and national training capacity
• International learning partnerships and the opportunity for third party providers
